The 38-year-old woman, who has not been identified but is understood to be from New Zealand, is alleged to have assaulted two men and a police officer after being forcibly ejected from the show at the city’s Espionage nightclub.

The show involves two comedians, with one arguing in favour of unrestricted freedom of speech and the other arguing that it should be curtailed.
Before the performance ends, the winner of the debate is decided through an audience vote.

The woman is understood to have spent much of the gig “vocally abusing” both performers and other members of the audience. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police in Edinburgh were called to an address on Victoria Street at 8.40pm on Saturday, August 6, following a report of a disturbance. A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal and she will appear in court at a later date.”
