Book now for a wee sing with Scotland's youth choir

A day of music, Wee Sing is a completely free project that introduces Primary 3 children to singing through fun musical games.

The first Edinburgh event will take place on Saturday 19 and 26 May at St George’s School for Girls, Garscube Terrace, where children will learn about pitching, rhythm and beat through interactive games and activities.

A parent of a previous Wee Sing participant, acting as a spokesperson for the scheme says, “This is an absolutely brilliant programme, I can’t recommend it enough.

“My P3 did it last year, and had a wonderful time.

“She learned so much in just those few weeks, I was so impressed with what the children could do after such a short space of time.”

As well as being fun, allowing the kids to sing together, being in a choir has many benefits, including gaining a musical education, socialising and making friends, and boosting confidence through performing.

Aimee Toshney, one of the Wee Sing leaders, explains, “Music making is a fantastic way for children to build confidence and develop socially.

“Wee Sing introduces children to the building blocks of music whilst meeting new friends and having lots of fun.”

NYCoS is dedicated to providing high-level singing opportunities for Scotland’s young singers.

Established in 1996, its aim is to provide a national infrastructure for young people, teachers and choir directors in Scotland.
