Tim donated signed items including a copy of his book ‘Tim Book Two’ and a vinyl soundtrack to the store as he was passing on Friday morning, following an event with Ian Rankin on Thursday evening as part of the Edinburgh Book Festival.

The shop’s staff and volunteers were delighted to receive the items and they were snapped up by a local fan for £30 within minutes.

It is not the first time a celebrity has donated to the Shandwick Place shop. In April, golfer Lee Westwood popped into the very same shop and donated over 100 brand new items of golf wear. The items went on to fetch over £1600 for the BHF.

Coral Short, Assistant Manager of the shop, said: “It’s really fantastic that Tim has chosen to support our shop and I’d like to say a massive thank you on behalf of everyone at the BHF.

“It’s amazing that our little shop has had donations from two celebrities already this year - It’s only August so we are hoping to get another one in before the end of 2016!

“You don’t have to be famous to donate though…we are always in need of items to fill our rails so please keep us in mind if you are having a clear out in the future!”
