Chinese visitors flock to Edinburgh Tattoo

The annual event on Edinburgh Castle Esplanade is the biggest of its kind in the world, providing upwards of £100 million into the UK economy every year.

Brigadier David Allfrey, chief executive and producer of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, said: “This year we have had an extraordinary 600 per cent increase in Chinese visitors. This year we have had more than 2000 which is a great jump for us and we are thrilled because these are families and individuals who are coming.

“We are all working very hard in China. I recently was privileged to give an interview for Chinese Central Television that was seen by 190 million people.

“We are becoming ever more international. We sell tickets now in 90 different countries.”
