Edinburgh crime drama set for TV debut

A NEW crime drama filmed in the Capital will hit screens tonight.

One Of Us, written by Harry and Jack Williams, is described as a tense thriller following the twists and aftermath of the brutal murder of two childhood sweethearts just back from honeymoon.

Filming took place over three months in Edinburgh, with other scenes shot in the Borders and the Highlands.

William McGregor, director of BBC One drama One Of Us, said: “A huge amount of the tone and atmosphere of One of Us came from the architecture, surrounding landscape and beautiful light quality of Edinburgh.

“There’s such a rich variation of locations, which was perfect for the various scenes we had spread across the city.”

More than 200 drama have been filmed in the Capital over the past 25 years.

Rosie Ellison, film manager for Film Edinburgh said: “Edinburgh has an amazing history of crime drama.”

The first episode of One of Us will be screened on BBC One tonight at 9pm.
