THE Waldorf Astoria gets in the festive spirit with a limited edition afternoon tea this month.
The Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh - The Caledonian to give the hotel better known to locals as simply The Caley is full title is celebrating the flavours of Christmas with the launch of its new afternoon tea set to perfectly captures the festive season.
A festive shake up of the hotel’s classic afternoon tea offering, the limited edition experience includes a number of savoury and sweet treats, including orange Christmas morning scones, gingerbread macarons, Christmas pudding mousse and German-favourite, Dominosteine.
A sumptuous mulled wine dome, handcrafted by the hotel’s expert team of chefs, crowns the top tier of the tea stand.
The afternoon tea will be accompanied by a limited edition, Christmas cocktail of Grand Marnier and Prosecco blended with a sugar infusion of cinnamon, cloves and star anise and orange and cranberry garnish.
The Waldorf Astoria received more than 150 entries for its competition on Facebook to name the cocktail, with the winner being The Twinkle in Santa’s Eye.
Diners can enhance the experience with a selection of more than thirty loose leaf teas and herbal infusions.
The Waldorf Astoria is one of the Capital’s most significant landmarks.
Standing at the West End of Princes Street, this former Victorian railway station hotel nestles in the shadow of the Castle.
Its reputation has attracted generations of locals, visitors and personalities for more than 100 years.
The festive afternoon tea will be available until 30 December and will be served from noon to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and noon to 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Prices start at £35 per person. To book, call 0131-222 8945
