THE Beyond Broadway Experience returns to The King’s this week, giving a cast of local youngsters aged between eight and 25 the chance to show off their talents.

This year, the summer school run by Beyond Broadway Productions has chosen The Wizard of Oz for it’s annual showcase.

Director Drew Gowland says, “Due to demand, the cast will be performing five shows this year and we’d like to invite everyone along to enjoy this family-friendly trip down the yellow brick road.”

He adds, “The Beyond Broadway Experience gives young people the chance to truly experience what it’s like to be part of a professional show and we have been blown away by the talent and dedication shown by this year’s cast during rehearsals.”

Northfield’s Jamie Duffy, 18, will portray the Tin Man in the musical. Jamie, a former pupil of Leith Academy, says, “Rehearsing for The Wizard of Oz has been one of the best experiences of my life as we spend hours every day singing, dancing and acting.

“This will the biggest show I’ve ever been in and I can’t wait for opening night.

“The Wizard of Oz was one of the first movies I watched as a child and I’m really excited to share the story with so many other people.”

Next summer, The Beyond Broadway Experience will stage a production of Legally Blonde The Musical with auditions due to take place at Dancebase in The Grassmarket on Sunday 18 November. Those interested in auditioning should register at
