LIVE from London’s West End, beamed directly into a cinema near you, the latest play to be screened by National Theatre Live is Matthew Dunster’s award-winning production of Martin McDonagh’s deeply funny new play, Hangmen.

Following a sell-out run at London’s Royal Court Theatre, Hangmen returned to the West End. Tomorrow, it will be screened in cinemas across the Captial.

In his small pub in the northern English town of Oldham, Harry (played by David Morrissey) is something of a local celebrity.

But what’s the second-best hangman in England to do on the day they’ve abolished hanging?

Among the cub reporters and pub regulars dying to hear Harry’s reaction to the news, his old assistant Syd (Andy Nyman) and the peculiar Mooney (Johnny Flynn) lurk with very different motives for their visit.

National Theatre Live is the National Theatre’s ground-breaking project to broadcast the best of British theatre live from the London stage to cinemas across the UK and around the world.

Since National Theatre Live’s first season, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of Phédre starring Helen Mirren, almost four million people have experienced the work of National Theatre Live in cinemas worldwide.

NT Live: Hangmen, tomorrow, 7pm, Omni Centre Vue, Lothian Road Odeon, The Cameo and Cineworld, for full screening details and ticket prices visit
