EIGHT Capital pubs play host to Nicholson’s annual beer festival from Monday, when they set out to showcase the UK’s best beer in Scotland.

The National Beer Showcase will feature 28 new beers and a selection of unmissable events over a six-week period, including guest talks from beer sommeliers and breweries, workshops, tastings, exclusive offers and competitions.

The eight bars taking part are the Conan Doyle on York Place, Deacon Brodies Tavern on the Lawnmarket, Greyfriars Bobby on Candlemaker Row, Haymarket, West Maitland Street, Kenilworth, Rose Street, Last Drop on the Grassmarket, The Mitre Bar, High Street, and the Rose Street Brewery, Rose Street.

Ale lovers will be spoilt for choice with a selection of limited-edition craft beers and regional specialities, including Fire & Water, Campbell’s Ramble and Hop Harvest, set to feature, alongside familiar brews.

Also available will be the oaked pale ale Two Bays, from award-winning breweries Adnams and Cigar City Brewing.

Tapping into the music industry, Britpop fans will get to sample a beer created by Yorkshire band Shed Seven and Rudgate Brewery, Going for Gold, that will feature from 1 October, and from 8 October, Nicholson’s own-brand Porter, returns by popular demand after a break of three-year.

Other highlights over the festival include; Pop Up Punks, a series of tasting experiences with Brewdog; Meet Your Local sessions with Meantime Brewery; and Homebrew Club Q&A workshops with Marston’s Beer Buffs.

And it’s not just about the beer, as autumn kicks in there’s warming pub fare to be enjoyed to with the launch of a new menu at the start of October, Nicholson’s Beer Showcase runs 11 Sept–22 October
