DIG out the tartan flares, the story of Edinburgh’s own Bay City Rollers is being told on BBC Four tonight.

Members of the band including Alan Longmuir and Les McKeown recall how they went from humble beginnings playing pubs and clubs across Scotland to achieving pop stardom in the 1970s.

They also reveal the dark side that dogged the band behind the scenes, including their relationship with manager Tam Paton, bankruptcy, legal battles and division between the members.

The programme, which was first shown on BBC1, features archive footage from the era, plus contributions from the band’s songwriters, producers and record company promoters.

Rollermania, Britain’s biggest boyband is on BBC Four at 10pm
