The Great British Dog Walk 2017

PET owners across the Capital are set to go barking mad on Sunday when the Holyrood Park Great British Dog Walk returns, bigger and better than ever before.

The Holyrood Park Great British Dog Walk is one of 20 fun-filled walks taking place around the UK to help ensure more hearing dogs can be trained to bring life-transforming benefits to deaf children and adults.

John Roberts, who is now profoundly deaf after being born with a hearing loss, is now enjoying life so much more with his hearing dog Widget. He says, “I am really looking forward to this year’s event at Holyrood Park.

“There will be two routes making it an ideal event for dog-lovers, families with or without buggies, couples, independent walkers and organised walking groups.

“I can’t wait to get my walking boots on and see all of the dog lovers join us.”

For those taking part there will be a free special limited-edition Great British Dog Walk doggie bandana and opportunity to be entered into a prize draw to win a luxury Forest Holidays getaway with every event booking.

Community Fundraising Manager for Scotland, Carol Jones, says, “We are delighted to bring our Great British Dog Walk to Edinburgh this year, especially after the recent generosity of Blackhall St Columba’s Church, who raised £10,000 to Name a Puppy.

“We also train our puppies in Edinburgh so we can’t wait for the walk and tell everyone more about the charity.

“We expect around 250 adults and over 25 dogs of all shapes and sizes to take part around both the 5km and 8km routes.”
