Tourism experts are expecting a dramatic surge in visitors to the Queen’s official residence in Scotland during the five-months show.

It will allow visitors to view up close the ivory gown created for Meghan by British designer Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of French fashion house Givenchy.

At the time of the wedding, Kensington Palace said the duchess had chosen the designer because of her “timeless and elegant aesthetic, impeccable tailoring, and relaxed demeanour”, and also to highlight the success of a leading British designer.

The Royal Collection Trust, which runs the historic palace at the foot of the Royal Mile as a visitor attraction, said the dress would go on display along with the duchess’s five metre long veil, which was embroidered with the flora of the 53 countries of the Commonwealth, and a tiara which was leant to her by the Queen.

Also on display will be the traditional “Blues and Royals” military uniform of the Household Cavalry regiment which the duke wore for their wedding at St George’s Chapel, at Windsor Castle.

Ms Keller said at the time: “I aimed for a very modern and fresh design, just like I find Meghan to be. I wanted her to feel absolutely incredible in the dress and also wanted her to feel like it was absolutely right for the occasion.”
