'Sounds like a spoof' - Edinburgh reacts to city centre nightclub The Hive reopening as sit-down cocktail bar next week

Popular Edinburgh nightclub The Hive is to reopen as a sit-down cocktail bar offering food next week.
According to their Facebook page, staff will be taking contact details, advising people to wear masks when moving around, checking temperatures and installing hand sanitiser points while ensuring areas are regularly cleaned when it reopens on Monday, August 31. No music will be played in line with government guidance.

Hide AdThe Niddry Street venue will be open from 6pm to 3am and there will be tables catering for groups of four, six and eight people and these can be pre-booked from 6pm on Thursday night.
‘Better than going bust’

One reader, Clara Morgan, said: "Good on them, better than going bust."
Darren Greenidge said: "Whistle Binkies on Friday too, and Banshee's in a week or so I've heard, so all we need is music back, and everything will be alright in the world."

The announcement comes after nearby Whistlebinkies announced they would be reopening on Friday.
