Baptiste, the hapless, clumsily inaccurate and occasionally brutal clairvoyant medium and psychic is the creation of actor Alex Lowe. The caricature was created for Peter Kay’s smash hit Channel 4 sitcom Phoenix Nights back in 2001, now, 18 years on Baptiste is back.

In The Paranormalist Returns Tour, he will give readings to audience members up and down the land and at the Assembly Roxy on 11 March, offering advice from beyond the grave.

“He will predict their futures, tell audience members about their pasts and perform all manner of “spooky stuff an’ that.”

But more, he will tell the story of his demise, his comeback and finally, on this special night, he will attempt to pass over to The Other Side and return - before the venue throw the audience out - with THE answer.

Lowe, who is known to millions for playing Barry from Watford on Radio 2’s Steve Wright in the Afternoon is a consummate character actor with acting credits that include working with Kenneth Branagh, who he met at the age of 14 while still a child actor appearing in the West End play Another Country. Later he joined Branagh’s Renaissance Theatre Company and also appeared in the actor’s films Peter’s Friends and Much Ado About Nothing

Lowe has also written for Alistair McGowan and Paul O’Grady.
