A huge NeverEnding Story event is coming to Edinburgh - and you could meet original cast members

'Rhymes that keep their secrets, will unfold behind the clouds, and there upon a rainbow, is the answer to a never ending story...'

Fans of 1984 film NeverEnding Story could see their fantasies become reality thanks to a huge event coming to Edinburgh.

The English-language German fantasy film was directed and co-written by Wolfgang Petersen, and based on the novel The Neverending Story by Michael Ende.

It gained a new, younger following after references were made to it in hit Netflix show Stranger Things.

Now, fans young and old have a chance to meet their favourite original characters as an Edinburgh event has been announced.

The event will take place at Edinburgh Academy on August 1 and 2, and is organised by the same company who have put on a raft of successful Harry Potter-inspired events in the city, For The Love of Fantasy.

Noah Hathaway (Atreyu) and Tammy Stronach (childlike empress) will both be flying in from the USA for the event, with more guests to be announced.

A full choir will be doing a fantasy movie medley including the NeverEnding Story theme tune along with guest singers leading a singalong for fans. There will also be a costume contest with prizes for all ages.

The website says: "Join us for The Neverending Story cast reunion with live stage Q&A sessions each day where you ask the questions photographs, autographs and 'The Swamp Of Sadness' for fans to get in and create the perfect profile picture or screen saver.

"Did we mention we also have a fan built replica of Falcor being flown in especially for the event?

"This is going to be magical, sing with us Neverending Story ahahaa, ahahaa,ahahaa...."
