Multi-award winning musical Dreamgirls will make its Edinburgh debut in 2020. Here's when tickets goes on sale.

If you remember the 2006 Oscar-winning movie of the same name starring Beyoncé Knowles, Jennifer Hudson, Eddie Murphy and Jamie Foxx, you'll already know Dreamgirls is a musical based on the show business aspirations and successes of R&B acts such as The Supremes, The Shirelles, James Brown.

It follows the adventures of a young female singing trio from Chicago, Illinois. Called The Dreams, they fight their corner to become Motown superstars.

Effie, Lorrell and Deena are three talented young singers in the turbulent 1960s, a revolutionary time in American music history. Join the three friends as they embark upon a musical roller-coaster ride through a world of fame, fortune and the ruthless realities of show business, testing their friendships to the very limit.

Featuring the classic songs And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going, Listen and One Night Only, this multi-award winning new production of the Broadway hit premiered at London’s Savoy Theatre in 2016, some 35 years after it opened on Broadway.

Dreamgirls will make its Edinburgh debut at the Edinburgh Playhouse from Tuesday 24 November to Saturday 5 December 2020.

Tickets go on sale from 3pm on Thursday 28 November 2019 at atgtickets.com/edinburgh with casting yet to be announced.

With book and lyrics by Tom Eyen and music by Henry Krieger and additional material by Willie Reale, the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls, directed and choreographed by Michael Bennett, opened in 1981 and subsequently won six Tony Awards.
