After a great year of live theatre on the big screen, Vue and the National Theatre of great Britain are bringing some of the biggest shows of 2019 back to the big screen in Edinburgh for the New Year, to give viewers a second chance to see them.

Next to return is All My Sons starring Academy Award winner, Sally Field. The drama, set in 1947 America, follows the success story of Joe and Kate Keller. Their stable life is about to take a knock when figure from the past returns and long-buried truths are forced to surface.

All My Sons comes back to Vue on Thursday 23 January and to finish January, Small Island will be coming back for an encore screening. Andrea Levy’s Orange Prize-winning novel comes to life in this theatre production. The play embarks on a journey from Jamaica to Britain, through the Second World War to 1948 – the year the HMT Empire Windrush docked at Tilbury. Forty actors take to the stage for this production, which will be brought to the big screen on Thursday 30 January.

Finally, The Lehman Trilogy will be making a comeback on Thursday 6 February. The play is the story of a family and a company that changed the world, told in three parts on a single evening. Directed by Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes and starring Simon Russel Beale, Adam Godley and Ben Miles, this star-studded production was one of the National Theatre’s biggest success stories of the year.

Johnny Carr, Event Cinema Manager at Vue, says, “After a standout year in theatre production, we thought it only fit to show four of the most popular National Theatre screenings again to see in the New Year. Each production has been a huge hit with viewers and these screenings mark the start of another packed year of live theatre at Vue. Theatre fans don’t have to go all the way to London’s West End to enjoy these four fantastic performances in ultimate seat, screen and sound.”
