Poke! The latest street food trend comes to town
Poke - pronounced poh-keh - is a typical Hawaiian dish of raw fish (usually tuna) in an Asian dressing served as part of a colourful salad.
The dish originated from fishermen seasoning and eating the off-cuts of their catch, and now, like the burrito, ramen and poutine before it, Poke has become the next big thing in Los Angeles, New York, London and now, for the first time, Edinburgh.

Hide AdTreacle, already known for its contemporary Asian influences, has introduced a new menu which focuses on Southeast Asian and Pacific cuisine as part of a wider redesign paying tribute to the region.
The new menu includes Rainbow Pok-e - a bowl of raw tuna, avocado, brown rice, mint, sesame and pickled cucumber.
If raw fish isn’t your thing, Treacle’s new menu also has an array of Eastern delights; from Vietnamese Banh Mi filled with Lemongrass chicken with mango and shredded carrot to Grilled steak, mooli slaw and wasabi mayo.
Or even, seared tuna with an Indonesian watermelon salad and Katsu chicken curry with pad Thai rice noodles.

Hide AdTo accompany the change on the menus, the interior has been given a fresh new look, with a colour palate of washed denim, raw whites and citrus greens, a polished wood floor and designer lighting from Kartell and Dowsing and Reynolds
Although the distinctly 90s feel brought by a Keith Haring mural will remain, the surroundings now aim to provide a relaxed summer atmosphere all year round - creating an idyllic escape in the centre of the city.
