Thousands of performers and tens of thousands of visitors are set to descend on Edinburgh in August for the world’s largest performance arts festival. Although the full line-up is yet to be announced, among the acts confirmed so far are comedians David O’Doherty, Rhod Gilbert, Rosie Jones, Paul Merton and Sara Pascoe. Also scheduled to appear at the festival are actor and comedian Bobby Davro, RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Lawrence Chaney, broadcaster Kaye Adams and Andy and Jamie Murray’s mum – tennis coach Judy Murray. Popular Fringe fixture The Lady Boys of Bangkok will appear at Festival Square this year, while actor Greg McHugh brings his much-loved Gary Tank Commander character to Edinburgh this year.
9. Rosie Jones
Rosie Jones brings her Triple Threat show to the Pleasance One at the Pleasance Courtyard on August 11 and 12 at 7.30pm. Rosie Jones is a British comedian, writer and actress who has Cerebral Palsy. She has written for panel shows Harry Hill's Alien Fun Capsule, Would I Lie to You?, The Last Leg and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and has appeared as a guest on The Last Leg, 8 Out of 10 Cats, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, QI and Hypothetical. 10. Gyles Brandreth
Gyles Brandreth's 'Can't Stop Talking!' show is on at the Gordon Aikman Theatre at Assembly George Square from August 2-27 at 4pm. The jumper-loving This Morning and Just A Minute star, who pops up on Pointless, QI, Would I Lie To You?, Sunday Brunch, and Celebrity Gogglebox, has been babbling since he was a baby, and in his hilarious new one-man show, the award-winning raconteur tries to work out why. Adam Kay's novel This is Going to Hurt was a literary sensation, selling three million copies and becoming a multi award-winning series.
