No preamble this time, let’s just do this, I’ve got a word count to stick to.

It’s chocolate week.

Round one, brownies.

Peter Sawkins baking.Peter Sawkins baking.

Lord Hollywood claims that if you can’t cook a brownie properly then you’re one of the worst human on the planet and he can’t even look at you.

Peter decided to rock a fig and pistachio upside down brownie, which is promptly described as ‘risky’ by Prue and Paul (who’s conjoined couple’s name would be Prul – not quite Brangelina but I do think we should all start using it).

We’re barely 15 minutes in and I’m already hyperventilating at the thought that the bakers will loose their gooey centre if they take it out the oven too quickly – how will I make it through a whole episode?

Well, pretty easily it turns out but that's not the point.

Peter’s is judged first, and uh oh, the cinnamon has over taken the chocolate.

“It’s OK” claim Prul (OK, I’ll stop calling them that now).

Peter is disappointed, but it was not the worst by a long shot.

Viewers would not be blamed for thinking that Hollywood’s shoes are a bit too small, or his football team lost the night before as his mood is not sparkling and his criticisms are brutal.

Either that or he just hates brownies, but then why choose them as a challenge? C’mon Paul, get it together.

Now, the technical challenge – a chocolate babka, which looks blooming tasty.

With predictably vague instructions, it’s impossible to gauge how each person is doing, so the time is largely filled by the slightly fractured banter of Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas, trying to encourage the highly stressed and competitive bakers to see the funny side of frantically wringing their hands next to their ovens.

Judging time can’t come too soon and Oor Pete is up first yet again.

Better this time, his had a good swirl and had a nice bake. Nailed. It.

He comes a respectable fourth place.

The showstopper is far less baffling than previous episodes with the bakers set to make a white chocolate celebration cake.

There’s so much science chat about the technical problems of using white chocolate I wouldn’t blame those just tuning in to think they were talking about plutonium rather than a sweet treat.

Peter sets out to impress with a mango curd and white chocolate cake celebrating his brother’s graduation – what a sweetie. Genuinely, that’s a lovely thing to do. Proud of you Pete.

With another baker having to restart her cakes half way through the challenge, Pete is looking fairly chill by comparison.

The judging begins, and Hollywood is back on form, by which I mean incredibly harsh.

Aesthetically, the cakes are passing muster but taste wise, they are all crashing and burning.

Now, Peter’s turn – “well baked” and “clever” are words that are casually thrown around, and no negative comments came his way. Boom, it’s looking good.

Mark picked up Star Baker this week – but our top guy Peter was in the judge’s thought, so we’ll class that as a second place. Excellent work.

Sura was the unlucky baker who will not be returning next week.

The stand out moment in this episode is when Prue sagely says to Lottie: “Don’t forget, you only have to be not the worst.” Good advice for life there, I’m going to get that put on a poster.
