Priyanka Chopra and her husband, Nick Jonas, have announced the nominees of this year's Oscars, with David Fincher’s black and white film Mank taking the lead with 10 nominations in total.

Two female directors were nominated for Best Director - Chloe Zhao for Nomadland and Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman - marking the first time in the 93-year history of the Academy Awards that more than one woman has been nominated for this category.

Late actor Chadwick Boseman, who passed away last summer, received a nomination for best actor for his performance in "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom," which also earned him a Golden Globe.

Due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, the ceremony has been postponed until 25 April, and the format has not yet been announced.

It was originally to be held on 28 February, but the entry date for nominations was extended to 15 January.

The Oscar nominations come in the week following the announcement of the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs) nominees, which despite not marrying with expectations, did expand from previous years to include a much more diverse group of actors and films.
