Food news: Cooking the books and top trips

IT’S quickly become known as the Capital’s quirkiest bakery – and now it has branched out into literature.

Cuckoo’s Bakery, in Dundas Street, is best known for a wide variety of creative cupcakes and plans to open a second store at some point in 2013.

But for now, it’s expanding into Waterstone’s, with the book giants set to sell Cuckoo’s homemade cupcakes at its Princes Street Branch.

• A RESTAURANT run by students at West Lothian College has been declared Livingston’s best.

The Terrace sealed the Christmas number one on the town’s section of top reviews website Trip Advisor, beating 35 other eateries to the title.

Celebrity chef Tony Singh paid a visit to the restaruant to congratulate the students. He said: “The high standard of technical skills learned are transferred on to the plate and into the dining arena by budding chef and service students, making the overall dining experience truly exceptional.”
