Interview: Greg McHugh, comedian

Occupation: Actor and writer.

What school did you attend?

St Thomas Aquins.

What sort of pupil were you? Liked PE and drama, dreadful at maths.

Were your school days the best days of your life? No way. Life is much more fun now.

What was your first job? Working for Bank Of Scotland.

What has been your most unusual job? A ‘photographer’ at the CN Tower in Toronto.

My biggest achievement so far has been... Making a living from what I grew up wanting to be.

My worst moment ever was… Dying on my a*** at the 2002 Leicester Young Comedian of the Year Final.

Three words that sum up my personality are... Sociable. Impatient. Ambitious.

Favourite place in the world? Camps Bay, Cape Town.

Three places in Edinburgh I could not live without are... Arthur’s Seat. Crammond River Walk. Prestonfield House Hotel.

Who is your best friend?

My partner.

Which TV show do you never miss? Border Control.

If you could bring one show to Edinburgh what would it be?

Gary: Tank Commander Live.

Name one item you not live without? Corkscrew.

By what ethos do you live your life? Enjoy the moment, don’t look beyond it.
