Dancing On Ice star Dan set to glide into Edinburgh with magical family show
The three-time Dancing On Ice champion will headline the multi-million pound extravaganza when it entertains Capital audiences from September 28 to October 3.
Whiston, who won the popular series with partners Gaynor Faye and Hayley Tamaddon, both of Coronation Street fame, and Olympian Beth Tweddle, says, “I cannot wait to get back on the ice and for the crowds to witness this amazing show after such a troubled past 12 months of lockdowns. We hope to both wow and amaze.”
Everyone is familiar with the timeless fairytale of Cinderella, her cruel step-mother and ugly step-sisters and Cinderella on Ice boasts all the traditional elements; a charming prince, a fairy godmother, a pumpkin carriage, the royal ball, and the famous glass slipper.
Produced by Fairytale On Ice whose previous tours include Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White, the show features many of the country's most skilled skaters. A spokesperson for the company says, "Dan’s involvement in Cinderella On Ice is testament to the incomparable level of production that guests can expect, in this stunning new family show.”
Theatre On Ice was born in 1993 when Vee Deplidge created a company, known as the Russian Ice Stars, that toured the UK with productions of Sleeping Beauty and Peter Pan on ice. In the past ice shows have proved popular with Edinburgh audiences with productions transforming both the Playhouse and Festival Theatre stages into giant ice rinks.
