Review: Blind Man’s Song

BLIND Man’s Song is a physical theatre show - which won’t be everyone’s cup of tea.

Three extremely talented performers use movement and music to present a story. The trouble with this show is that the story is pretty difficult to decipher.

The programme notes (handed out after the show) shed some light. A blind musician embarks on a journey and is distracted, informed and amused by the sensations he encounters. A green handkerchief is passed back and forth between the performers. It might belong to the musician’s love interest, though that storyline doesn’t seem to have a happy ending.

Notwithstanding, this is a lovely looking show. The costumes are colourful, considered and a touch fantastical. The music is outstanding.

Performers Guillaume Pigé and Selma Roth are incredibly beautiful to watch.

This is a visually striking production, let down a little by a story slightly too thin to stretch across an hour.

Until August 31
