Around 1,500 jobs are set to be axed at car dealership Lookers as the group announced plans to slash costs in the face of the coronavirus crisis and a tough car market.

Lookers run dealerships in Edinburgh’s Sighthill, Hamilton, Ayr, Stirling, Bailieston and Glasgow’s Braehead and Hillington.

They own 138 branches across the whole of the UK.
