New ‘brewery-themed’ hotel with rooftop bar and cinema opens at Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge

The new Moxy hotel has opened in Edinburgh's Fountainbridge

Moxy Edinburgh Fountainbridge is the group’s second hotel in the city and has 262 guest rooms.

The hotel’s contemporary interiors play on the building’s history as it has been built on the former site of the renowned Fountainbridge Brewery.

Oversized beer tanks take centre stage in the lobby, with beer lines strategically located throughout the social public spaces.

The rooftop bar and terrace will serve both Scottish and international craft beers, with a list of brews not often found on the high street, as well as tapas bites and speciality cocktails. Locals and guests can also expect to enjoy seasonal screenings from the bar’s built-in cinema.

Upon arrival, guests will check in at the ground floor bar where they will be greeted with a complimentary cocktail.

The ‘Now’ communal areas will include a chill out zone where guests can cosy up next to the fireplace.

The hotel offers in-room ‘hook-ups’ where guests can enjoy unique experiences for all kinds of celebrations.

It has been built on the former site of the renowned Fountainbridge Brewery.

Taking the helm as Captain, Moxy Hotels’ take on a general manager, is 34-year-old Aberdonian, Simon Garrow who has worked in hospitality for 13 years, with 10 years working at some of Edinburgh’s top hotels.

He said: “It’s really exciting to bring something new to one of the trendiest up and coming areas of the city.

“There is nothing quite like it in the vicinity and we’re looking forward to guests and locals experiencing the origins of the site, with the quirky brewery theme running throughout the hotel.”

Donovan Sumner, regional director of operations UK and Italy for Hotel Co. 51, the operating company added: “We’re proud to be opening our newest boutique hotel in the heart of Scotland’s Capital just two years since opening Moxy Edinburgh Airport.

“The original brewery shut back in 2004 and building this hotel on such an iconic site is a real talking point.”

The hotel is open with rooms currently available to key workers and business travellers during the current nationwide lockdown.

When restrictions are lifted, the hotel looks forward to welcoming all guests.
