Edinburgh Park development to go green with signing of multi-million-pound contract

Edinburgh Park’s southern phase masterplan is set to be one of the UK’s biggest “all-electric” property developments with the signing of a multi-million-pound contract.

Vattenfall’s distribution network operator has been awarded the contract by property firm Parabola to provide and operate the electrical infrastructure at the vast capital site. Work is set to start to help Edinburgh achieve its ambition of becoming a net zero city by 2030.

The electrical infrastructure can enable the entire development to operate without producing carbon emissions, said to be a vital element of Parabola’s commitment to a new sustainable quarter in the city.

Vattenfall’s distribution network will enable every property at the southern phase to connect to the local grid. This will include nearly 1,800 residential units, some one million square feet of commercial office space, as well as restaurants, a health centre, bicycle hub, nursery and EV charging points, all of which will be added to the electrical network as the project is built.
