Judges Anna Steven of Openreach, Jill Buchanan of the Edinburgh Evening News, Audrey Cumberford, the principal and chief executive of Edinburgh College, and Sophie Ewen, the business engagement officer at the City of Edinburgh Council, will deliberate on Tuesday to decide the winners of each category – with special focus on the ‘Edinburgh Apprentice of the Year’ honour.

Ms Cumberford, on being a judge for this year's awards, said: “As the principal of Edinburgh College, I am delighted to be involved in the inaugural Edinburgh Apprenticeship Awards.

"We support around 2,000 apprentices each year at the college who are working with a wide range of businesses and organisations across Edinburgh, and we appreciate the benefits that apprenticeships can bring to individuals and the organisations they work with.

“The Edinburgh Apprenticeship Awards are an important vehicle to publicly recognise and celebrate the success and talent of apprentices and their contribution to the economic success of Edinburgh, but also to showcase those organisations who believe and invest in their people.”

Ms Steven said: “We’re really excited to be part of the first Edinburgh Apprenticeship Awards and looking forward to hearing about all the amazing things apprentices are contributing to the city’s life and economy.

“If our own apprentices are anything to go by, the nominees will be a fantastic group of dynamic, capable and hard-working people and there will be difficult choices ahead. Good luck to everyone who’s been nominated.”
