Mealzo: Scotland’s online ordering portal with zero commission
Online food apps are huge, but the latest offering in Edinburgh and across Scotland’s central belt is promising to do something that little bit different to help food lovers and the local community.
Mealzo is the largest zero percent commission online ordering portal in the country, and its entire focus is to help people shop local via the website or app.
There’s no commission for local restaurants and takeaways, meaning it is hugely popular with brands, but they also don’t inflate the menu prices – the Mealzo menu is the same one as customers get in person, but with extra discounts.
And for a simple transaction fee you can have your choice of delicious food delivered to your door when you want it.
Kevin Tabatabaeyan of Mealzo says it’s the perfect recipe for food lovers.
“We wanted to create a win-win journey for everyone. For the restaurants, there’s no commission to pay. For the diners, there is a huge range of outlets at affordable prices. And for the community, it couldn’t be better.
“We work with our suppliers to support the local community, either through our Local Hero of the Month charity initiative or through cash donations to good causes.”
How much might you save with Mealzo
The research undertaken by Mealzo shows that any takeaway or restaurant you order from comes out up to 26% cheaper than any other portal. Mealzo also regularly runs campaigns to give money off orders which is stacked on top of the existing discount already provided through the takeaways. This means that they can guarantee they are the most cost-effective Scottish portal that currently exists.
More than half the Mealzo outlets are based in Edinburgh, but the brand is growing swiftly, with more in Falkirk, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and beyond.
Community based
Mealzo not only supports the local takeaways and restaurants, but also the local communities its partners are based in. The Local Hero of the Month Initiative was launched by Mealzo to have a platform in which they can work with the business owners to give back to their local communities by supporting local charities. This gives business owners a chance to meet with the local residents at various charity events or give financial donations to wherever it may be needed in their local area. Mealzo is running this each month across the central belt of Scotland.
