Morrisons introduce toilet roll limit as pictures appear to show bare shelves in Edinburgh stores

Morrisons has introduced a purchase limit of three items on a range of products including toilet roll, as recent photos appear to show evidence of possible panic buying.

The supermarket chain’s new rule comes as pictures on social media, believed to have been taken this week, show empty loo paper shelves in one of the Edinburgh branches in Ferry Road.

A spokeswoman for the store confirmed stock levels are good, but staff want to ensure there is enough to go around for everyone.

In a statement she said: “We are introducing a limit on a small number of key products, such as toilet roll and disinfectant. Our stock levels of these products are good but we want to ensure that they are available for everyone.”

An Edinburgh resident who visited the Morrisons branch in Ferry Road yesterday, Wednesday 23 September, confirmed the store’s loo paper section was almost empty.
