After establishing 2016, they are now the longest serving peer-to-peer car sharing service in the UK. The move to Edinburgh will be the company's first introduction outside of England, after their success in London and more recently Bristol.

In November 2020 it was announced that Keith Stark would be leading the Scottish launch of the company.

Throughout his 14 years previous experience, Keith grew Enterprise Car Club - formerly City CarClub - into the most successful of its kind in Scotland. He was also the first to introduce electric vehicles (EV's) into the Scottish car club fleet, operating 26 EV's across Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Keith said: "Hiyacar adds a new dimension to car sharing in Edinburgh, allowing people to use a car club and also share their own cars with the local community. It is a very exciting opportunity to provide a service which can genuinely change the way in which people own and use cars."

Graeme Risby, CEO and co-Founder of Hiyacar, said: "While we still have a need for cars, many are not utilised the majority of the time - by launching in Edinburgh, our goal is to connect drivers to a car, when and where they want them in a sustainable way. Edinburgh has led the way when it comes to car sharing and we offer a great alternative to other car clubs in the city. We're very excited to be in Scotland and hope to launch in other cities throughout the country later this year."

For drivers, Hiyacar is a cost effective, hassle free way of renting a car with rates starting from as little as £6 per hour or £30 a day, no membership fees and for a short period of time new users even £10 off their first booking using code ED10.
