New ramen and sushi restaurant opens in Edinburgh's city centre

A new restaurant serving Japanese cuisine has opened in the Capital's city centre.

Umai, in 6 Queensferry Street, serves ramen and sushi along with other delicious classic dishes inspired by Japan's dining scene.

The new eating out spot opened its doors to customers for the first time this weekend.

A spokeswoman for the Umai team said: “What we are all about is trying just to make simple, comfy and fresh Japanese food which is graciously presented.

"We try to give all this dining experience in a relaxed atmosphere, at a fair price and with a smile (behind the mask).

"We are in our first steps so not all is perfect but we are making improvements every day.

"We look forward to welcoming you to experience the newest Japanese in Edinburgh - we can assure you - you will be pleasantly surprised.”

She recommended customers try the restaurants unique fried rolls to experience something a little different.

The opening times are currently from 12pm until 10pm, with last orders being called at 9pm – although this may be subject to change.
