Edinburgh authors make Scottish Book Trust prize shortlist

Two authors from Edinburgh have been shortlisted for the Scottish Book Trust’s 2021 Bookbug Picture Book Prize.

Zoë Ingram and Morag Hood have been nominated by charity, which transforms lives through reading, launched the prize to inspire young readers while celebrating Scotland’s picture books.

The winner is voted for by children across Scotland via Scottish Book Trust website. The competition will see an Edinburgh-Glasgow showdown, with Morag’s “Brenda is a Sheep” and Zoe’s “My First Book of Birds” facing “This is a Dog” by Ross Collins from Glasgow.

First prize is £2,000 while remaining shortlisted candidates will receive £500.

Marc Lambert, CEO of Scottish Book Trust, said: “It’s always a delight to see familiar faces on the Bookbug Picture Book Prize, which was established to celebrate the work of authors and illustrators in Scotland. We hope families across the country will enjoy reading these books together, and vote for the one they enjoy most.”
