Following a rise in positive tests in the area, Falkirk Council originally announced the facility – set up for any residents, even if they don’t have Covid-19 symptoms – would open at Denny Football Centre in Shanks Avenue.
However, that plan has since been revised, with Denny Sports Centre in Station Yard, Town House Street, instead chosen to host the appointments which will start on Monday, January 18 and run for at least three days.
Appointments, which must be booked in advance, are available for anyone living or working in Denny, Dunipace, Bonnybridge, Haggs and Longcroft.
Testing will be run by the Scottish Ambulance Service on behalf of NHS Forth Valley and the local authority.
Dr Graham Foster, Director of Public Health, NHS Forth Valley, said: “We have seen a sharp increase in the number of positive cases in Denny and the surrounding areas over the last few weeks and evidence of spread within these local communities.
“I would therefore encourage local people to get tested even if they currently feel well as some people can have Covid-19 without displaying any of the common symptoms.”
Residents should select the ‘My local council or health protection team has asked me to get a test, even though I do not have symptoms’ option when booking a test online via GOV.UK or by calling 0300 303 2713.
Appointments will only be released each evening for the following morning and in the morning for appointments that afternoon.
Slots will be available to book after 6pm on Sunday, January 17 for the morning of Monday, January 18 and will then be released each morning and evening.
Once appointments are fully booked, the testing centre will not appear online as a venue option or be available for call handlers to book, however, new appointments are released each morning and evening.
People are asked not to turn up at the testing centre without booking an appointment in advance.
Anyone attending should also wear a face mask or covering and observe physical distancing rules.
