Coronavirus in Scotland: latest Covid-19 figures released

The Scottish government has confirmed the latest coronavirus statistics.

The number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Scotland has risen by 51 – 1.1 per cent of those who were tested on Friday, according to the Scottish government.

It is not clear how many are directly linked to the Aberdeen cluster, though 25 of the 51 cases were reported in the NHS Grampian region.

NHS Orkney reported one new case, while NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and NHS Lanarkshire both recorded eight new cases each.

No new deaths were reported, meaning the number of people who have died after testing positive for the virus remains at 2,491.

No one in Scotland who has tested positive for the coronavirus has died in a month. The last reported death was on July 15.

244 people are being treated in Scotland’s hospitals for Covid-19, three of whom are in ICU.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who does not hold daily press briefings on weekends, told followers on Twitter that: “Prevalence across Scotland remains low - and thankfully, another day of no deaths amongst confirmed cases.
