Coronavirus in Scotland: Nicola Sturgeon and Covid experts working to see if Santa’s grotto can be safe
Speaking at her daily coronavirus briefing on Monday, the First Minister said: “We are working on guidance on Santa's grotto.”
Earlier on Monday, Downing Street said Father Christmases will not have to wear masks in Santa’s grottos, but said that children will not be allowed to sit on their knees under current coronavirus guidance.

Hide AdThe Prime Minister’s official spokesman, James Slack, said on Monday: “We know that meeting Father Christmas is a magical experience for children, which is why he will be taking safety precautions, including ensuring that he is operating in a Covid-secure way. But it won’t be required for Santa to wear a mask this year.”


He added: “It won’t be permitted for children to sit on his knee, as part of the guidance.”
