Coronavirus in Scotland: Scottish dentists ordered to halt procedures amid virus fears


This means they are unable to provide routine fillings, dental hygiene treatment, root canals, denture work, surgical extractions and exams for older patients, those with underlying health conditions or pregnant women.
They can still undertake certain procedures, but only for those who have shown no symptoms of Covid-19.

Hide AdThese include: Simple extractions, temporary dressings, opening teeth for pain relief and routine exams for non-vulnerable patients.
Peebles Dental Practice posted on Facebook that they had been given the guidance by the Scottish Government.
It's understood the advice has been issued countrywide.

Hide AdThe British Dental Association say on their website that they are currently in urgent discussions with the Scottish Government regarding financial sustainability and guidance for dentists.
Health Protection Scotland are currently updating advice for dental teams.
