Coronavirus cases in the Lothians reach 2,569 as hospitalisations rise again

The Scottish government has released new figures outlining the spread of coronavirus in the Lothians.

The number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus in the Lothians has reached 2,569 – an increase of seven in the last 24 hours.

Figures from the Scottish government also showed that five more people had been hospitalised with the virus in the region, making the total number being treated 192.

Intensive care units in NHS Lothian currently have 10 Covid-19 patients, the same number as yesterday.

Across Scotland, 14,655 people have been confirmed to have the disease to date, and 2,134 people have died after testing positive.

The breakdown of cases in NHS Scotland health boards is as follows:

Ayrshire and Arran - 981

Borders - 317

Dumfries and Galloway - 257

Fife - 825

Forth Valley - 883

Grampian - 1206

Greater Glasgow and Clyde - 3759

Highland - 333

Lanarkshire - 1853

Lothian - 2575

Orkney - 7

Shetland - 54

Tayside - 1599

Eileanan Siar (Western Isles) - 6

Golden Jubilee National Hospital - Fewer than 5
