NHS Lothian has explained that the initial lag was due to the policy of vaccinating care homes first, and with the high number of care home residents in the region, this took a little longer.
However, now that the mass vaccination hubs have opened, and the army have been drafted across the country to help, the area caught up.

Hide AdThe Edinburgh Conference Centre, Queen Margaret University, Pyramids Business Park, the former Royal Bank of Scotland building at Edinburgh Park and the Royal Highland Showground are all being used as vaccination hubs.
As of February 7, the City of Edinburgh has now vaccinated 40,339 people, West Lothian has vaccinated 16,173 people, East Lothian has vaccinated 8,376 people and Midlothian has vaccinated 8,314 people.
As of Wednesday, 985,569 people have received the first dose of the Covid vaccination.
