Coronavirus in Scotland: 112 new positive cases in the Lothians according to latest figures

A total of 112 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Lothians in the last 24 hours.

The news comes as Scotland sees a rise of 961 new cases of coronavirus reported from health boards across the country on Monday, 12 October.

No new deaths have been recorded in the last 24 hours, yet, during her daily briefing, Nicola Sturgeon said this was to be expected given few registry offices are open over the weekend.

Of the new positive results, 359 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 244 in Lanarkshire, 112 in the Lothians and 88 in Ayrshire and Arran.

The other cases have been reported from the remaining health boards in the country.

Ms Sturgeon confirmed no new cases have been reported from Orkney or the Shetland isles.

During her daily briefing, the First Minister said 487 people are currently in hospital with coronavirus which is 38 more than yesterday and 36 patients are in intensive care with Covid-19.
