Coronavirus in Scotland: 152 cases confirmed in the Lothians as country reports five new deaths

A total of 152 Covid-19 cases have been reported in the Lothians as Scotland confirms five new deaths in the last 24 hours.

Across the country, 1, 027 people have tested positive for the virus since yesterday.

Of those, 405 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 230 in Lanarkshire and 72 in Ayrshire and Arran.

The remainder have been reported from other health boards in Scotland.

So far, 377 people are being treated in hospital which is 58 more than yesterday.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said patients in hospital with the coronavirus have more than doubled since last week.

She added 31 people are being treated in intensive care which is three more than the day before.

In total, 35, 787 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Scotland since the pandemic hit in March this year.

The five new deaths reported in the last 24 hours brings the country’s death toll to 2, 538.
