Coronavirus in Scotland: 161 new cases in the Lothians as country records 13 new deaths

A total of 161 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the Lothians as Scotland records 13 new deaths across the country.

In the last 24 hours, 1,351 positive tests have been confirmed from health boards in other areas of Scotland.

Of these new cases, 450 are in Greater Glasgow and Clyde, 374 are in Lanarkshire and 111 are in Ayrshire and Arran.

During her daily briefing, Nicola Sturgeon confirmed 31 more people are being treated in hospital with Covid-19 compared to yesterday bringing the total number to 601 as of October 15.

Since last week, the number of patients in intensive care with the virus has doubled and has now reached 51.

The recently recorded deaths brings the total number of fatalities in Scotland to 2, 585.

So far, 44, 036 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the country since the pandemic hit in March.
