Coronavirus in Scotland: 239 new cases reported in the Lothians in the last 24 hours

Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed the latest coronavirus figures for Scotland.

The First Minister confirmed today that 1,429 new cases of coronavirus were recorded across Scotland in the last 24 hours, of these 239 were reported in the Lothians.

Ms Sturgeon reported also that 15 more people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

This brings the death toll in Scotland to 2,572.

The number of people in hospital with coronavirus is 570, an increase of 73 from yesterday.

49 people are in intensive care in Scotland which is an increase of 14 from the figures released yesterday.

Of the 1,429 new cases reported, Ms Sturgeon said 537 of these were identified in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde health board area, 327 in Lanarkshire, 239 in the Lothians and 92 in Ayrshire and Arran.

The total number of positive cases recorded in Scotland is now at 42,685.
