First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has updated the nation on the pandemic.

A further six people have died from coronavirus in Scotland – bringing the death toll to 22.

The total number of confirmed cases in the country has reached 719 as of this afternoon, with 135 tests coming back positive in the last 24 hours, according to the Scottish Government.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon revealed the figures this afternoon at her daily press conference.

She again stressed the need for the Scottish public to comply with the ‘stay at home’ rules, while extending her ‘sincere condolences’ to the families of those who have died.

There are 51 patients currently in intensive care units with Covid-19.

She thanked the Scottish public for its help and said there would be ‘updated guidance’ shorty to help with business closures.
