Coronavirus in Scotland: Total number of second vaccines administered hits half a million as 364 new cases are reported in last 24 hours

The Scottish government announced today that the total number of people who have received their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine has surpassed half a million.

As of this morning, 500,376 people had received their second coronavirus vaccine, while 2,608,831 had received their first.

In total, 364 new cases of the virus were reported yesterday; 100 of these were in the Greater Glasgow and Clyde healthboard area, 65 were in Lanarkshire and 42 were in Forth Valley.

174 people were reported to be in hospital yesterday with coronavirus which is 18 fewer than the previous day, while 21 people were in intensive care, the same as the figure reported the previous day.

One additional death was reported in the last 24 hours of someone who had tested positive for the virus within the last 28 days.

This brings the total death toll in Scotland to 7,620 since the start of the pandemic.
