There are 40 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in the Lothians as Scotland’s weekend total reaches over 1,000.

The latest Scottish Government statistics show that across the country, 105 people are in hospital with the virus, with 12 people in intensive care.

344 new case were confirmed in Scotland in the last 24 hours and tragically, one more person has died after testing positive.

Saturday saw the country’s highest rise in cases with 714 positive tests confirmed.

New restrictions have been in place to help curb this continued rise in cases, including banning people from visiting other households and putting a 10 pm curfew on pubs and restaurants.
