Covid-19 tier three leads to immediate closure of Scotland's National Museum of Mining


The trust which runs the museum said it has been forced to make “the very difficult decision” to temporarily close to visitors.
The museum closed in March due to the UK-wide lockdown and reopened in August in compliance with safety guidance for visitors and staff. The temporary closure means that it can utilise the job retention scheme in an attempt to safeguard the museum’s future..

Hide AdChief Executive, Mhairi Cross said: “Since the end of the school October break and the introduction of T3 restrictions the museum has seen a significant drop off of visitors which has had a subsequent effect on our income. The restrictions across the country have led us to this very difficult decision to temporarily close our doors again.”
