COVID in Edinburgh: More than 300 positive cases in city and Lothians in last 24 hours

Edinburgh and the Lothians recorded more than 300 positive COVID cases over the last 24 hours - the highest number of daily cases anywhere in Scotland.

The figures were published by Public Health Scotland

The capital city and surrounding areas logged the highest number with 331 positive cases reported in a countrywide total of 1209.

This was just higher than Greater Glasgow and Clyde on 320.

In neighbouring Fife there were 43 positive cases, and in Forth Valley the number was 44.

Across Scotland on Friday, a total of 28,809 tests were recorded with only 4.5% returning positive results.
