‘Crazy scenes on the Meadows again this evening’ – photos show police breaking up large gatherings of youths
It was the first weekend since the stay-at-home order was lifted for Scots – but the same old story at the Meadows in Edinburgh on Saturday as large crowds of youths gathered.
The area has become a hot spot for illegal gatherings in recent weeks, and once again police were reportedly called to disperse dozens of “loud and drunk” youngsters.
Plenty of locals took to social media to voice their annoyance at the scenes witnessed.
Local crime writer Ian Rankin, who lives nearby, wrote on Twitter: “One guy led away by police with a head wound after a fight an hour or so back”.
In another post, local group Marchmont Etc wrote: “Crazy scenes on the Meadows again this evening.
“Could well be the busiest have seen it in the Meadows this evening”.
Another Twitter user, Alex Orr, wrote: "Police out in force #meadows #Edinburgh..."
The Evening News has contacted Police Scotland for comment.
